Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi

🌟 Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi 🌟

Sankashti Chaturthi is a sacred day dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom. Observed every month on the Chaturthi tithi (4th day after the full moon), it holds immense spiritual significance for devotees seeking divine blessings.

This month’s Sankashti Chaturthi is known as Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi, a day when the “Akhuratha” form of Lord Ganesha is worshipped. “Akhuratha” means one who rides on a mouse (Mooshak), his divine vehicle symbolizing control over desires and ego. It is believed that praying to Akhuratha Ganapati removes all obstacles, grants clarity of thought, and brings prosperity.

🕉️ The Rituals of Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi:

  1. Fasting – Devotees observe a strict fast from sunrise to moonrise. Some consume fruits, milk, or water, while others undertake a “nirjala vrat” (no food or water).
  2. Ganapati Puja – In the evening, special prayers and rituals are performed to Lord Ganesha with offerings of modaks, flowers, durva grass, and betel leaves.
  3. Moonrise Ritual – The Sankashti fast concludes after offering prayers to the moon (Chandra Deva) and catching a glimpse of it. This symbolizes overcoming darkness and welcoming light into one’s life.
  4. Chanting and Reading – Devotees recite the Sankashta Nashana Ganesha Stotra and read the Vrat Katha specific to Akhuratha Chaturthi.

Spiritual Benefits of Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi:

  • Removes life’s obstacles and challenges.
  • Brings success, wisdom, and prosperity.
  • Offers mental peace and strengthens faith.
